Apple is reportedly upgrading most of its Mac lineup this fall, including the Mac mini

Apple supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of TF International Securities has published his research note of predictions for Apples fall lineup — and its a doozy, via 9to5Mac. Kuos note claims that in addition to the three new iPhone models already rumored to launch, Apple will also update almost all of its Mac and MacBook lineup (including the long-suffering Mac mini). He also says that Apple will introduce new bezel-less Face ID iPads, update the Apple Watch with bigger displays, and release a new pair of AirPods and the AirPower wireless charger that were announced last year. Thats a lot to take in, so lets break it all down: If Kuos correct, it sounds like its going to be a busy fall for Apple. And if hes wrong... well, it wont be the first time Ive had my heart broken by rumors of a Mac mini update.

Report: The Mac mini is finally getting an update after nearly 4 years

The Mac mini is the cheapest Mac, but its also the one Apple seems to care the least about. Case in point: the last time it got an update was October 16 of 2014. There hasnt been so much as a spec bump in the four years since. Thats finally about to change according to Ming Chi Kuo, one of the most reliable sources for Apple rumors. He claims the mini is slated to receive an update this fall. Unfortunately, he doesnt providemuch in the way of specifics. A processor upgrade is expected, but the report doesnt say if the mini will receive a new chassis, ports, or any design update otherwise. The news not entirely surprising given how long its been – especially considering Apples renewed focus on desktops – but its encouraging nonetheless.  The Mac mini has long been the most accessible Mac – it starts at $499 – but its hardware is so ancient that buying one is a terrible deal unless you really need a desktop Mac on the cheap. But its not just the Mac mini. In fact, Kuo expects Apple to provide updates around all of its product categories this fall. and weve already written extensively about the rumored iPhones, iPads, and MacBooks. One new tidbit on the laptops is that Kuo believes there will be a new, low cost MacBook in addition to spec bumps for the rest of them. The report also suggests Apple is working on two new Apple Watch models this year, with bigger displays and improved heart rate detection. Its not clear if the watches themselves will be bigger or if Apple is just shrinking the bezels, though Im hoping for the latter. Lastly, the report claims the iMac will get a spec bump too. Now if Apple would only release that modular Mac Pro…
